Our Recreation Programs assist individuals with developmental disabilities in meeting their social, leisure, and recreational needs.

Participants are given opportunities to increase their socialization, develop friendships, and stay active in the community. By participating in the program, individuals learn more about activities and resources and improve their social skills and independence in the community.

Who Is Eligible

• Individuals with developmental disabilities ages 16 and over
• Service is available to Rock and Green County residents

Our Rock County Recreation Program’s 3rd Annual Fashion Show was held on September 9, 2011 at KANDU located at 1741 Adel Street in Janesville. Models in the fashion show are participants of our Recreation Program for people with developmental disabilities. We held drawings for great door prizes from local businesses and was entertained by American Idol contestant, Tiara Purifoy!

Additional volunteers are needed for an upcoming "Mini Carnival" for people with developmental disabilities, which will be held on March 2, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army in Janesville, WI. Do you love to have fun and spend time with others? The Catholic Charities Recreation Programs plan and coordinate fun social events for adults with developmental disabilities. Volunteers are utilized to provide supervision and assistance to program participants as they bowl, fish, swim, play cards, dance, or do other fun activities. The number of participants at an event can range from 5 to 75, and volunteers definitely enhance the participants’ experiences. All activities are community based and take place in the evenings or on weekends. Join us for a rewarding and enjoyable time - you’ll be glad you did!
